Carpentry Building & Construction Trades Pre-Apprenticeship
Course Description
Carpentry Building & Construction Trades Pre-Apprenticeship is a comprehensive course to prepare students for careers in the Residential and Commercial Construction industry in partnership with the Western States Regional Council of Carpenters Apprenticeship Program. This course integrates academic skills with practical application allowing students to explore career options in the Building and Construction industry, while developing a foundation of industry-specific skills and concepts.
Curriculum
Students will learn:
- Job site safety
- Shop math: measuring, marking and cutting
- Blueprint reading
- Layout and framing
- How to use common hand and power tools
Students will complete projects in:
- Footing and foundations
- Floor, wall, ceiling and roof framing
- Installing and finishing drywall
- Doors and windows
- Acoustical ceilings
- Flooring, stairs, and trim
Progress from beginning to advanced techniques that have real world uses in both Residential and Commercial construction industries.

Dates: TBD
Days: Monday - Thursday; Some Saturdays may be added in second semester for larger scale projects
Time: 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Fee: $1,000 (includes all classroom materials and basic safety gear that is for the student to keep)
