Our History

Established in 1936 as the Simi Valley Adult School, Simi Institute for Careers and Education (SICE) was founded to extend learning to adults in our community. Since then, it has flourished and expanded its educational services to meet the needs of the ever-changing Simi Valley community and surrounding areas. The adult school campus is located in the geographic center of Simi Valley near the corner of Los Angeles Avenue and Blackstock Avenue. Additional facilities are utilized for the cosmetology program, as well as other nearby medical sites which are used for instructional purposes.

Many adults find the flexible curriculum at the adult school suits their economical needs for education, providing help for many people to re-enter the work force with viable skills. Simi Institute offers a means to upgrade skills or learn new ones to change or re-enter the workforce.

The school enjoys a placement rate ranging from 70% to 100% in its many areas of study. Students receive support from the counseling staff, teachers and administration, as well as an onsite Job & Career Center for help with resumes and job placement.

Our school offers a variety of programs, including classes to assist students pass the General Education Diploma (GED), attain a high school diploma, or learn English. Additionally, many students attend the school for vocational needs.

Simi Institute offers training in many diverse areas of study. Allied health training includes: ECG, EMT, medical assistant, medical insurance billing, nurse assistant, pharmacy technician, phlebotomy, respiratory therapist and surgical technologist.

Vocational classes include: machinist training, welding, business and computer classes, computer graphics, multimedia, web design, cosmetology, esthetician, manicuring and many community education classes.

Simi Institute for Careers and Education is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. This Certificate of Accreditation is in Room 402. Our real estate, medical and dental programs are also full accredited by their specific accrediting boards. Vocational programs at the institute have been recognized as “Programs of Excellence” by the State of California Department of Education. In addition, the Academic Skills Center has been awarded a Certificate of Excellence by the CDE.
