About Us

Our History

Established in 1936 as the Simi Valley Adult School, Simi Institute for Careers & Education (SICE) was founded to extend learning to adults in our community. Since then, it has flourished and expanded its educational services to meet the needs of the ever-changing Simi Valley community and surrounding areas. SICE's campus is located in the geographic center of Simi Valley near the corner of Los Angeles Avenue and Blackstock Avenue. Additional facilities are used for the Cosmetology program, as well as other nearby medical sites that are used for instructional purposes.

Many adults find that Simi Institute's flexible curriculum suits their economical needs for education, providing help for many people to re-enter the work force with viable skills. SICE offers pathways to upgrade skills, learn new skills to evolve or re-enter the workforce.

The school enjoys a placement rate ranging from 70% to 100% in its many areas of study. Students receive support from the counseling staff, teachers and administration, as well as the onsite Job & Career Center for help with resumes and job placement.

Our school offers a variety of programs, including classes to assist students pass the General Education Diploma (GED), attain a high school diploma or learn English. Additionally, many students attend the school for vocational needs.

Simi Institute offers training in many diverse areas of study. Allied health training includes: Certified Nursing Assistant, Electrocardiograph Technician (ECG), Emergency Medical Technician, Medical Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomist, Respiratory Therapist and Surgical Technologist.

Vocational classes include: Carpenter, Machinist, Upholstery, Welding, Business and Computer Technology, Barber, Cosmetologist, Esthetician, Hairstylist, Manicurist plus many special interest education classes.

WASC Accreditation

Simi Institute for Careers and Education is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. This Certificate of Accreditation is in Room 402. Our real estate and medical programs are also fully-accredited by their specific accrediting boards. Vocational programs at the institute have been recognized as “Programs of Excellence” by the State of California Department of Education. In addition, the Academic Skills Center has been awarded a Certificate of Excellence by the CDE.
