About Our Programs

Simi Institute for Careers and Education is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The school is located near the center of the 10-mile long valley at 1800 Blackstock Avenue. The majority of programs are offered on the main school campus. In addition, a satellite location for  Cosmetology is located within one half mile of the main campus.

Simi Institute for Careers and Education is one of the most comprehensive career institutes in the state of California, offering medical, technical and other career training programs to those in the Simi Valley and outlying area.

Simi Institute offers occupational training programs not usually found in adult education programs. Students have access to career training normally found only at community colleges and private career-training institutes. This training is available at Simi Institute for a fraction of the cost that other institutions charge.

Careers in the medical field featured most prominently at Simi Institute include: training to be a medical assistant, pharmacy technician, emergency medical technician, medical insurance billing clerk, surgical technologist, respiratory therapist, phlebotomist, certified nurse assistant, and electrocardiography technician.

Simi Institute for Careers and Education also helps students to develop work-related skills. For example, in the curriculum, there is course content for nursing assistants to help them communicate effectively with patients.

Other occupational training programs at Simi Institute lead to personal service, industrial and technical careers like welding, machine technology and cosmetology.

For adults who require training and education in basic English or math skills, Simi Institute also offers standard adult school courses in ESL.

The counseling and student services office guide students in their academic endeavors and career planning.  There are also services for disabled students. Counseling services are available both day and night to better serve our clientele.

Simi Institute operates on a year-round basis. Morning, afternoon, evening and Saturday classes are available to meet the needs of adult learners. School hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am - 9:00 pm, Fridays from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, and Saturdays from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.

After publishing of the schedule of classes, it may be necessary to change times and locations of classes, or cancel a class. We regret any inconvenience that this may cause.
